WINDOM AREA SCHOOLS RECEIVES POSITIVE REVIEW FOR PROPOSED BOND PROJECTS

The Windom Area School District has received a positive ‘Review & Comment’ from the Minnesota Department of Education for its proposed bond projects.

MN Dept of Education Positive Review and Comments of Project

Review and Comment Submitted to MN Dept of Education

This approval came by way of a letter dated April 5, 2018, from the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Brenda Cassellius. This review and its positive outcome is a critical step in the process of bringing our bond projects to our voters in the Referendum on May 8th.

The Minnesota Dept. of Education plays a key role in building bond projects throughout the State, by employing a required review process that looks at building project requests, both in terms of need and appropriateness of solution, including the cost impact the project will have on taxpayers, as well as district operations long-term. Consideration is also given to the projects’ intent to meet not only student educational needs, but also community and other stakeholder requirements.

With this positive review and approval in hand, the District is confident that the proposed bond projects being brought to our community for voter approval on May 8th is appropriate and responsible.

A public meeting with an opportunity for the public to comment on the project will be held in the Windom City Council chambers, 444 9th Street, Windom at 6:30 on Monday, April 23rd.
